Allergy Testing

Allergies are the 6th highest cause of chronic illness in the USA each year, with 50 million Americans suffering from some form of allergy. While many allergies are mild and/or seasonal, some can be more serious. Allergies, from food seasoning to seasonal changes, are covered in our extensive 71-allergen panel test series. Contact us find out specific allergens contained in our subpanel categories.

Our laboratory utilizes IgE testing for allergies, rather than painful and scientifically unreliable scratch testing.

Why choose IgE Allergy Testing over Scratch Testing?

  • Saves time
  • Minimal pain for patients
  • Scientifically-backed results
  • Superior accuracy and precision
  • Blood Allergen Assay has the lowest margin for error of any allergy testing method

If you have changed the allergy testing in your clinic from ‘Scratch’ testing to Immunoglobulin E (IgE) blood tests, you may be used to the skin wheal/flare measurements and their corresponding categorization.

We produced these guidelines to help convert our results to the categories that you may be familiar with. However, it is crucial to note that studies have shown there is no correlation between the size of the skin reaction and the severity of allergic manifestations (American Journal of Rhinology & Allergy, 2012). IgE provides the most clinically sound data, and should be used ahead of ‘scratch’ tests whenever possible. Importantly, our IgE results are placed into 8 reference ranges, which helps allergists provide more effective & accurate treatment plans for patients.
